Our certified technicians will respond quickly to start the drying process as soon as possible. The goal of drying is to minimize the amount of time that materials spend in an unusually wet state, and to return the affected materials to acceptable moisture contentment as promptly and safely as possible.

Water damage has four Categories and four Classifications

Categories of Water

The term “Category of Water” refers to the range of contamination in water, considering both its originating source and its quality of water, thereby changing its Category. Time and temperature can also affect the quality of water, thereby changing its Category. Potential contamination is defined as the presence of undesired substance: the identity, location and quantity of which are not reflective of a normal indoor environment and may produce adverse health effects, cause damage to structure and contents and/or adversely affect the operation or function of building systems.

  • CATEGORY 1 - water originates from a sanitary water source and does not pose substantial risk from dermal, ingestion or inhalation exposureRead more

Examples of Category 1 water source can include but are not limited to: broken water supply lines: tub or sink overflows with no contaminants: appliance malfunctions involving water-supply lines: melting ice or snow: falling rainwater: broken toilet tanks and toilet bowls that do not contain contaminants or additives. However when clean water leaves the exit point, it may not remain clean once it contacts other surfaces or materials.
The cleanliness of Category 1 water may deteriorate to Category 2 or 3 for many reasons, including but not limited to: contact with building materials, systems and contents: mixing with soils and other contaminants. Elapsed time or elevated temperatures are influential factors in deteriorating Category 1 water.

  • CATEGORY 2 - water contains significant contamination and has the potential to cause discomfort or sickness if contacted or consumed by humansRead more

Category 2 water can contain potentially unsafe levels of microorganisms or nutrients for microorganisms, as well as other organic or inorganic matter (chemical or biological).
Examples of Category 2 water can include, but and not limited to: dishwasher or washing machine discharge, overflows from washing machines, overflows from toilet bowls on the room side of the trap with some urine but no feces: seepage due to hydrostatic pressure, broken aquariums and punctured water beds
The cleanliness of Category 2 water can deteriorate for many reasons, including but not limited to: contact with building materials, systems, and contents: mixing with soils and other contaminates. Previous water losses, general housekeeping, the type of use or the structure, elapsed time or elevated temperatures are influential factors in deteriorating Category 2 water.

  • CATEGORY 3 - water is grossly contaminated and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic or other harmful agentsRead more

Examples of Category 3 water can include, but are not limited to: sewage, toilet backflows that originate from beyond the toilet trap regardless of visible content or color, all forms of flooding from seawater: ground surface water and rising water and rising water from rivers or streams, and other contaminated water entering or affecting the indoor environment, such as wind-driven rain from hurricanes, tropical storms, or other weather-related events.

Classification of Water

The term “Class of Water” also is the initial determination of the amount of water and the likely or anticipated rate of evaporation. It is used to determine the initial dehumidification capacity necessary to handle the potential amount of water that will be evaporated within the affected area.

  • CLASS 4 - specialty drying situations Read more

These consist of wet materials with very low permeance/porosity (e.g., hardwood, plaster, brick, concrete, light weight concrete and stone). Typically, there are deep pockets of saturation, which require very low specific humidity. These types of losses may require longer drying times and special methods.

Fire & Smoke Damage

Loss of property due to fire can be one of the most devastating experiences that a property owner can ever experience. Property fires can cause extensive damages due to water, smoke and soot build-up on most if not the entire structural interior and exterior surfaces

When your home or business is damaged by fire, time is of the essence. Contamination from smoke can adversely affect the entire building and everything in it, including clothing, furniture, appliances, and electronics. Materials fade and discolor, and the smell can emanate from places that seem impossible to clean. Through you may be anxious to do something after a fire, you could be wasting your efforts or creating further damage if you neglect to get professional advice

The most common property residential fires are fuelled by synthetic materials which result in incomplete combustion and produce soot and acid deposits that make fire clean-up extremely difficult

What is Mold???

Mold is a naturally occurring organism that can be found both indoors and outdoors. Mold is alive, but is neither a plant nor an animal. It is a type of fungus. While small amounts of mold are common in everyday life, elevated levels of mold inside your home may be a cause for concern. Some people are sensitive to molds, and exposure can cause symptoms such as eye irritation, stuffiness, and can worsen the symptoms of asthma

If your home has mold inside it anywhere, the first ones that are going to show symptoms of exposure will be your children, the elderly, and your pets. Those groups are particularly susceptible to the health complications associated with mold and mildew exposure. This can include breathing problems, rashes, headaches, sneezing, hoarseness, or even just a constant runny or blocked nose. These could be signs of more serious problems, so why wait on getting the service that your home needs to determine if you have a mold problem
